Lion Scholars is a program that assists incoming first-year students in making a successful transition to college life. The University of Arkansas - Fort Smith is committed to your success.

Based on your high school GPA and/or test scores, you qualify for this additional support.

  • Develop supportive relationships through connections made with your success team, including:
    • ROAR First-Year Advisor
    • Academic Coach
    • Financial Aid Advisor
    • Academic connections
  • Designated Lion Scholars classes to help you connect with supportive faculty and other Lion Scholars
  • Communications designed to orient you to campus resources and contacts
  • Workshops through Career Services, major exploration, and Academic Success

  • Commit to your academic success at UAFS: Go to class and get involved on campus.
  • Take advantage of your Success Team and the appointments and workshops you are invited to.
  • Enroll in one of the curricular opportunities afforded to Lion Scholars:
    • English Summer Bridge Program
    • Designated sections of Composition I, Composition II and Speech Communications
    • Designated sections of Personal Finance Applications

Your success team has been assigned to you to care for your needs as a student and to serve as a resource during your time at UAFS.

  • ROAR First-Year Advisor: Your ROAR Advisor will be your student success champion during your first year. They’ll help you define your major, create a four year plan and answer questions about navigating campus resources.
  • Academic Coach: Your Academic Coach will help you work on those skills that are important to being a successful college student – time management, study strategies, test taking and so much more!
  • Financial Aid Advisor: College is an investment, and we’re here to help you ensure your financial aid is in order and you have a solid plan to pay for school. Your Financial Aid Advisor can help you with your FAFSA, direct you to scholarship resources, and answer your questions about paying for college!

Log in to Navigate using your UAFS login and password.  You’ll see your Success Team on the bottom right side of the page. You can email them using the envelope icon.

  1. Check your email frequently.
  2. Make an appointment for advising when prompted.
  3. Register for a Mane Event.
  4. Sign up for Cub Camp. (If cost is an issue, let us know. We know this program is important, and we’re willing to help you with it!)
