The awarding process for summer federal student aid will begin in early March. Due to many variables concerning a student’s eligibility for summer federal student aid, it may take more time for your summer federal aid to be processed than during the traditional academic year. Summer federal aid may be awarded before spring grades have been posted.

Since processing of summer federal aid begins prior to spring grades posting, you may receive a federal student aid award for summer before Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) is reviewed at the completion of the spring semester. SAP is generally reviewed within a week after spring commencement. This can impact your eligibility for federal student aid.

It is possible that a student who is awarded summer federal aid before SAP is reviewed can lose their eligibility for summer federal aid due to being placed on Financial Aid SAP Suspension. If you do not qualify after review of SAP at the completion of the spring semester, you will be notified through email.

Adding/Dropping summer coursework prior to the printed census date on the summer application can impact your eligibility.
