Campus Update, November 21, 2025
Written By: Terisa Riley
Dear colleagues and students,
What an incredibly busy and successful week it has been at UAFS.
Kudos and congratulations to the faculty and students in the Department of Psychology
for hosting the annual Psychology Symposium yesterday. It was gratifying to learn
about the extensive research of our students and to learn from alumni who returned
for the day.
Thanks to everyone who participated in Culture Fest on Monday evening. I am especially grateful to Noah Schmidt for organizing the event
and serving as the master of ceremonies. The booths were informational, the food was
delicious, and the performers helped all of us to fully embrace a variety of cultures
which exist at UAFS.
UAFS Men's and Women's Basketball teams had home games this week, and we had another
successful Toy Toss where almost 1,000 toys were collected for children in the River
Valley who might not otherwise receive gifts this Christmas. Thanks to the players
and coaches for representing UAFS in a variety of competitions during the week of
Thanksgiving. If you are in town on Saturday, November 29, I encourage you to attend
the Women's Basketball game at 1:30 p.m. in the Stubblefield Center...and be sure
to wish AD Curtis Janz a happy birthday that day, too!
UAFS Music and Theatre hosted the Jazz Band concert on Tuesday and the Jazz Catz concert
last night. The musicians blew me away with their talent, and both concerts ended
with well-deserved standing ovations. Thank you to the faculty who work diligently
with our students every day to ensure that these performances are world-class events.
Major thanks to the Dave Stevens Lion Pride Pantry for hosting the annual Thanksgiving
dinner giveaway. We gave away 150 meals and recipients received either a full turkey
or ham. I am so grateful that we were able to help so many students and employees
who would not have had a good meal without this support.
Thanksgiving Break: As a reminder, no classes will be held from November 24-28. Campus will close at
noon on Wednesday, November 26. Faculty will work remotely from Monday-Wednesday,
and staff who are not on vacation will work remotely from noon-5:00 p.m. On Wednesday.
All buildings will close at noon on Wednesday and reopen as scheduled on Monday, December
1.

Major thanks to the University Police Department for keeping our campus safe 24/7/365.
None of your work can be done remotely, and we appreciate you allowing the rest of
us to be off campus without worrying about the safety of our people and facilities.
As you pack up to leave for the holiday, please do not forget that we have two weeks
remaining this semester. In other words, you have to come back! Until we see you again,
have a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
As always, I am grateful to serve as your chancellor,
Terisa Riley
