General Education Mobile Program

You serve our country with commitment and skill. We are here to support your educational goals and help you complete the remaining general education courses required for your Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) degree.

The General Education Mobile (GEM) program at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith provides a flexible, fully online path to complete those courses and transfer them back to CCAF for degree completion.

H2: How the GEM Program Works

  1. Confirm your GEM eligibility in AFVEC.
Log in to the Air Force Virtual Education Center and select the General Education Mobile option. Review your remaining CCAF general education requirements and choose the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith as your GEM institution.
  2. Apply to UAFS.
Submit the free online application. Once admitted, you will receive your UAFS login credentials and access to Workday, the student portal where you register for courses.
  3. Select the courses you still need.
Your GEM advisor will help you identify the exact general education courses required for your CCAF degree in areas such as oral communication, written communication, mathematics, social science, and humanities.
  4. Request tuition assistance.
Use AFVEC to request tuition assistance for your chosen courses. After your TA is approved, send the authorization to UAFS so it can be applied to your account.
  5. Complete your coursework and send your transcript.
Once you finish your GEM courses at UAFS, request an official transcript. We will send your completed credits to CCAF for application toward your degree.
