Michelle Wannemacher is the interim program director and an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work at the UAFS. She brings more than a decade of experience in medical social work, specializing in hospice care and serving the geriatric population. Michelle earned her Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) credential in 2017 and transitioned into academia in 2022 as an adjunct faculty member. She later joined the full-time faculty and, in August 2023 was appointed interim program director.

In her current role, Michelle is dedicated to preparing social work students to enter the field as ethical, competent practitioners and to pursue advanced education. Her research interests center on child welfare and student experiences in the River Valley region, reflecting her commitment to both scholarship and community impact.
