Jeffrey Warndof

The Writing Center at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith offers free tutoring to help students strengthen their writing for classes, careers, and graduate study. Students can work one-on-one with trained tutors in person or online at any stage of the writing process.

Students used the Writing Center consistently throughout the most recent academic year. 


In-person tutoring is most common, with online options available.

Students can meet with tutors in person or online, depending on what works best for their schedule.


Most students report tutoring helped improve their writing.

Feedback is collected through short surveys sent after tutoring appointments. Survey responses help the Writing Center understand how tutoring supports student confidence and writing development.

Monday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Tuesday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Wednesday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. 11 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

What you can get help with

Bring any writing for a class or program. Tutors work with you on your paper while helping you build skills and strategies you can use for future writing projects. 

Tutors don't write or edit papers for you. They work with you to strengthen your writing and build skills you can use in future classes.

Tutoring sessions are collaborative and focused on helping you become a stronger writer. Tutors ask questions, offer feedback, and suggest strategies you can use on future writing projects. You can bring work at any stage of the writing process, from early ideas to final drafts.
