Written By: Rachel Putman
The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith will host its 15th annual Psychology Symposium, Mortality & The Human Experience, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Smith-Pendergraft Campus Center.
The event will open with a plenary session titled “The Psychology of Death: A Nexus of the Time Paradox and Mortality Paradox,” presented by Dr. D. Antonio Cantù, dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences. Psychology department head Dr. Nicha Otero will join Cantù in offering the symposium’s welcome and overview remarks.
Designed to blend career exposure with academic study and student research, the symposium includes a networking event with psychology-related agencies, a panel featuring UAFS alumni, and student-led research sessions showcasing both papers and posters.
The schedule also features a lunch break, a recognition ceremony for outstanding students and graduating seniors, and a post-event session titled “Grad School 101” with Taylor Martinez, to be held in the Reynolds Room.
The Psychology Symposium is one of several events supported by the Babb Center for Career Services.
