Greetings from the Chancellor
Welcome to UAFS
Every day at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith, I look out my office window that faces the center of campus and see the future: It’s in the eyes of students pursuing their dreams.
The students I see may be fresh out of high school or in transition after years in the workforce or caring for families. Yet amid all of their variety and diversity, the thousands of students we welcome each fall share a common desire to learn, explore and build a better life and a better world.
They’ve chosen UAFS because they can do more at UAFS. They rightly sense that it’s an ideal place in which to prepare for a bright, successful future. Since our establishment as a junior college in 1928, we have expanded in size and vision to become a premier regional university and member of the University of Arkansas System.
We offer scores of real-world degree and certificate programs, including a master’s degree in healthcare administration, the first master’s program in our recently established graduate school. Our campus, which has won awards for its beauty and been noted for its friendliness, is bustling with recent and planned enhancements, such as a LEED-certified library expansion, the donor-financed Windgate Art & Design building and the student-initiated-and-financed Recreation and Wellness Center.
I’m privileged to welcome you to the UAFS campus and invite you to become a part of an institution that has a venerable past, a vibrant present and a limitless future.
