
Dr. Ray Wallace was named provost and senior vice chancellor in 2007. He earned a doctoral degree from Illinois State University. All academic deans report to Dr. Wallace, as well as, Enrollment Management and International Programs.
Since completing his doctorate, he has held several key faculty and administrative positions in U.S. institutions of higher education. Prior to coming to UA Fort Smith, Dr. Wallace served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and professor of English at Clayton State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Wallace maintains a national reputation as a scholar in the field of teaching writing. He continues to write chapters and essays for others’ scholarly works, has served on various editorial boards for key academic journals, and regularly presents research nationally and internationally.
