UAFS Leadership Academy

Mission:
The mission of Leadership Academy is to provide student learning opportunities in leadership development in a diverse environment that will prepare students for a global community.

About Leadership Academy:
The UA Fort Smith Leadership Academy is a Leadership Certificate Program for UAFS students limited to the first 100 students that sign up.  Leadership Academy provides students with an in-depth exploration of leadership theory and practical application.  There are five core concepts for Leadership Academy: Civic engagement and Community Service, Integrity, Personal and Professional Development, Social and Cultural Competency, and Teamwork

Requirements for Leadership Academy:
Full-time student
2.75 GPA (or 3.0 High School GPA for freshmen)
Complete a service-learning project (Service-Learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities)

Expectations to complete Leadership Academy:
Attend an orientation session
Attend 5 of the offered leadership sessions
Complete a service project
Communicate with Student Activities via LionsLink email
 
Learning outcomes:
Upon successful competition of Leadership Academy certificate program, the student will be able to:
Demonstrate knowledge of how ethics, integrity, morals, and values relate to their leadership dilemmas.
Engage in the campus or the community as a means to explore one’s civic responsibility as a leader.
Demonstrate increased self-awareness into how personal characteristics and abilities, and those of others influence their leadership.
Apply the skills necessary to work collaboratively to be an effective leader.
