Student Loans
Student loans are designed to help students cover expenses while attending an institution of higher education. UAFS participates in the Federal Stafford Loan program, the Parent PLUS Loan program, as well as, private student loans.
UAFS automatically includes Stafford loans as a part of a student's financial aid package, but only offers upfront the grade level loans (Freshmen $3,500, Sophomore $4,500 and Juniors/Seniors $5,500). Students may be eligible for additional unsubsidized loans in amounts from $2,000 to $7,000, depending on their status.
Process for requesting additional unsubsidized loans:
- Complete an Additional Loan Request Form
- Attach a copy of your *Financial Aid Award Summary
- Bring both forms to the Financial Aid Office to speak with a Financial Aid Representative
*The Financial Aid Award Summary information can be accessed at www.studentloans.gov. Find My Financial Aid History in the "Tools and Resources Box." Continue to NSLDS page and click Financial Aid Review.
