Education Honor Society Inducts 13
(Posted: March 10, 2011)Thirteen students at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith have been inducted into the Alpha Beta Omega chapter of Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education.
Each student selected for membership is required to have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.50. Students must also have earned at least 30 semester hours by the end of the term prior to the time of initiation and have completed at least 12 hours of professional education courses.
Senior members of the organization, who maintained a 3.5 grade point average throughout their university careers, were presented cords to wear at commencement exercises. Receiving cords were Kathryn Feather and Veronica Luna-Geels of Fort Smith, Erin Dickerson of Mulberry, Melissa Hoehne and Yolanda Merriman of Poteau, Okla., and April Howard of Van Buren.
The mission of Kappa Delta Pi is to sustain an honored community of diverse educators by promoting excellence and advancing scholarship, leadership and service with a vision to help committed educators be leaders in improving education for global citizenship.

This is the 100th year celebration for Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education, founded by Dr. William Bagley in 1911 at the University of Illinois.
Faculty advisers for UA Fort Smith are Deebe Milford of Alma, Dr. Lois Yocum of Fort Smith and Ginger Osburn of Sallisaw, Okla.
