A Note from the Director
Welcome to the UA Fort Smith Academy of the Arts!
We are excited that you have decided to pursue your artistic talents with our qualified and dedicated faculty. Here at the Academy, we are very proud of our relationship with the music and theatre programs at UAFS. We are so fortunate to have the wonderful resources available on campus, including faculty and spaces to provide the optimal artistic experience for our students.
It is our hope that we develop programs and opportunities of interest for individuals, from the amateur to the highly gifted, and all those in between. Our faculty work very hard to provide the best experience for the needs of all students.
The Academy seeks to be one of the primary community resources and outreach programs of UAFS.
As we grow each year, our offerings reach an ever widening audience. Currently we offer activities in music including private one-on-one music instruction, choir for all ages, theatre for all ages, instrumental ensembles, art classes, and preschool Musikgarten. We now reach students from preschool to high school and offer many programs for teens.
We are pleased to continue to offer two performance series. The Distinguished Artists Series is a concert series that includes performances by artists of national acclaim. The Academy ShowTime Series includes several fabulous Disney and other popular productions by Academy theatre students.
Our summer camps are an exciting way to become involved in our programs. Each year we offer the KinderKidz Camp for preschoolers. The camp includes activities in music, movement, and theatre.
Our Summer Camp Explozion, a musical theatre performance camp, is a week-long camp for students ages 5 to 18. The week explores musical theatre, set design, and dance, and concludes with a musical production at the end of camp week at our Xtreme Artz KidFest.
