A concert of Gospel music
Presented by area soloists and choirs
Sponsored by
Friday night February 23, some 2000 of us gathered at Harvest Time for Gospel Fest 2012 - one of the single largest musical events offered in Fort Smith. 250 voices from area church choirs, along with many well-known area soloists and a 25-piece band all came together once again to present an evening of gospel favorites.
It is difficult to describe how much fun those of us on stage have at this event. It is incredible! We hope you had fun too! For me, it is a highlight of my career. The room was filled with energy from start to finish. There is something indescribable about hearing a choir of that size singing together. And our soloists were no less than phenomenal!
I want to personally thank everyone who participated in the concert. There were so many people involved from the music ministers to the church choirs, Academy choirs, soloists, band members, the technical crew, advertising friends, the Academy of the Arts staff and volunteers, the Southside High School National Honor Society, Union Christian Academy National Honor Society, Harvest Time staff, parent volunteers, and of course, my wonderful husband. And I must thank UAFS and Chancellor Beran for supporting this event. A very special thank you goes to Harvest Time for hosting an event of this size—what a wonderful place to give a concert!

Now-to you as the audience—I can’t begin to tell you how pleased and appreciative I am that you chose to spend your evening with us. What fun!! The evening allowed us to accomplish two things; first, we were able to come together as a community to enjoy the wonderful genre of gospel music. Second, the UAFS Academy of the Arts was able to raise money that is so vitally important in providing scholarships for children and young people to participate in artistic activities through the Academy. This was truly a successful fund-raiser.
Those of you who attended know that we invited you to fill out a short survey about the event. There were so many wonderful comments. And thank you for providing us with several hundred gospel songs and some 100 potential soloists for future concerts. From “The Old Rugged Cross” to “He Touched Me” to “We Shall Behold Him”, you have given us a fabulous list that we can work from for many years!
So, let me just say I so enjoyed spending the evening with all of you! And stay tuned for future events like this!
